Would you provide a sample on apex.oracle.com to be able to help you effectively
Can you explain how the users close the dialog without clicking the close button? What action do they undertake to do this?
The dialog doesn't just close on its own. Have you specified an auto-close selector? Are you doing a manual close somewhere?
Happens on a button or when they click on the 'cross' to close the window... If I try this in a 'full blown' page then if I try to close the tab or the complete browser window I get the confirm message before the window is unloaded, allowing me to return to the page. Just when it's in popup mode the window disappears before the message appears...
OK, on a button I can put stuff in the the DA but what if they accidentally click on the cross & lose a whole load of stuff? Am thinking that one way round it is to dump info into items on the calling page then offer up an option to restore the page / save it but I'm sure there must be a way that somebody cleverer than me has worked around this??

I've had this sort of question before, a long time ago, about using the modal popup + save before exit. My suggested workaround can be found here: plugins - Skillbuilders Save Before Exit with Skillbuilders Modal Page - Stack Overflow
Thanks Tom - I have seen that thread but didn't get too far into it as I hoped that by now there might have been an easier route... getting lazier as I get older! Guess I'm just going to have to get my head into it & work for my supper
Maybe I should try to make time to write a plug-in which deals with this...
Thanks for taking the time...
