          locate alert_SID.log file which contains when the DB last started without error.

          It contains lines which show all parameters which have non-default parameter values.

          Extract these lines & use them as pfile to start the DB

          How do I ask a question on the forums?

            Aman....

            Spfile crashed? Anyways, if you are on 10g and versions prior, you need to copy the parameters from the alert log file and if you are on 11.2 and above and you have the instance running, you can run the command CREATE SPFILE from MEMORY.

              Yes, first you need to go to alert log file and copy the pfile contents.  Copy all the pfile contents and create pfile in dbs locations. Start the database with pfile

              Startup pfile='pfile location"

              create spfile from pfile;

              to verify whether the database was started with pfile or spfile

              fire a command:

              show parameter spfile;; it values comes, means database started with spfile.
