set 32-bit emulation mode & system version: must be redhat-Red Hat Enterprise while Upgrading 10.1.3.4  OH to 10.1.3.5 by Applying Patchset (10.1.3.5)

    user558643

I am running EBS 12.1.3 on Linux 6 - 2.6.32-100.28.5.el6.x86_64 and in the process of upgrading OracleAS from 10.1.3.4 to 10.1.3.5 with patch 8626084 so as to apply Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.1.3+ Recommended Patch Collection 1 (RPC1) - Patch 17774755.

I have unzipped patch 8626084, and while runing ./runInstaller I have encountered

"On a 64-bit Linux operating system, Oracle Applicaton Server 10g needs 32-bit emulation mode in this release. Please set 32-bit emulation mode by running following command and restart the installation."

      I then executed

      # linux32 bash

After this I net another error:

      Checking installer requirements...

Checking operating system version: must be redhat-Red Hat Enterprise Linux AS release 3, redhat-Red Hat Enterprise Linux AS release 4, redhat-Red Hat Enterprise Linux ES release 3, redhat-Red Hat Enterprise Linux ES release 4, redhat-3, redhat-4, redhat-5, SuSE-9 or SuSE-10

                                            Failed <<<<

Are these errors expected or I am running the wrong version of this patch 8626084 on a 64 bit machine? Can I proceed with

      ./runInstaller -ignoresysprereqs &

      Thanks

      Mathias

          Mathias,

As mentioned in (Upgrading to the Latest OracleAS 10g 10.1.3.x Patch Set in Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12 (Doc ID 454811.1), "Installation of AS 10.1.3.5 on more recent operating systems" section), please run the installer using "./runInstaller -ignoreSysPrereqs"

          Thanks,

          Hussein

            Hi Hussein,

            ./runInstaller -ignoreSysPrereqs  got me going.

            1) Because this instance was cloned from PROD, I had to change information on the Destination screen:

            Name: OFPROD_WEBOH__u02_applfinp_apps_tech_st_10_1_3

            Change this name to OFD1_WEBOH__u02_applfind_apps_tech_st_10_1_3

            Path: /u02/applfinp/apps/tech_st/10.1.3

            Change this name to /u02/applfind/apps/tech_st/10.1.3

            2) I have met another error:

Error in writing to '/d2/R12/ab/apps/R1211xxB/apps/tech_st/ .....

where as my home is as above: /u02/applfinp/apps/tech_st/10.1.3

            How do I handle this?

            Thanks

            Mathias

              Hello Hussein,

I have checked and my /u01/app/oraInventory/ContentsXML/inventory.xml still had some information from PROD - source from which it was cloned. I have attempt to recreate oraInventory following note "How to Create a Clean oraInventory in Release 12 [ID 834894.1]" according to one of your notes.

              Using ouicli.pl :

              1. Create a new oraInventory

              mv /u01/app/oraInventory /u01/app/oraInventory_OLD

              mkdir /u01/app/oraInventory

              chmod 777 /u01/app/oraInventory

              2. Add the 11.2.3 Oracle Home

              $ORACLE_HOME/appsutil/clone/ouicli.pl

              chmod 777 –R /u01/app/oraInventory/ContentsXML

              3. Add the 10.1.3 Oracle Home to the new created oraInventory:

              cd $INST_TOP/ora/10.1.3

              . ./OFD1_ofindev01.env

              cd $ORACLE_HOME/appsutil/clone

              export TMP=/tmp

              ./ouicli.pl

But this home is not added in the inventory.xml

              cat /u01/app/oraInventory/ContentsXML/inventory.xml

              <?xml version="1.0" standalone="yes" ?>

                    1) I do have "..../opmn/bin/opmn: No such file or directory" when I execute

                    $ORACLE_HOME/opmn/bin/opmnctl/status

But this error doesn't show up when I do

                    cd #ORACLE_HOME/opmn/bin

                    ./opmnctl status

Is there a reason for this?

                    2) Only one ORACLE_HOME is in  inventory.xml: "OFD1_DB__u01_app_oracle_product_11_2_0_db_1" LOC="/u01/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/db_1"

I have three ORACLE_HOMEs and because I cloned these box from PROD, the inventory.xml entries where still showed PROD info. This led me to attempt recreating inventory.xml but the addition of 10.1.3 & 10.1.2 is giving errors:

                      Mathias,

You should see other ORACLE_HOMEs in the inventory if ouicli.pl was run successfully (for 10.1.2/10.1.3 ORACLE_HOMEs). Please review the log files to confirm that those ORACLE_HOMEs were added.

                      Thanks,

                      Hussein

So I understand that ouicli.pl didn't run successfully because of the "Segmentation Error" when running opmnctl.

Have you applied any patches recently to this ORACLE_HOME?

                          What about 10.1.2 ORACLE_HOME?

                          Thanks,

Since "/d2/R12/ab/apps/R1211XB9/apps/tech_st/10.1.2/opmn/bin/opmn" is missing we need to recover this file, if you have any other identical instance with the same patchset level please copy this missing file.

                              Thanks,

                              Hussein

                                The File exist:

                                [applfind@ofindev01 bin]$ ls -la /u02/applfind/apps/tech_st/10.1.2/opmn/bin/opmnctl

                                -rwx------ 1 applfind dba 23235 Mar 26  2009 /u02/applfind/apps/tech_st/10.1.2/opmn/bin/opmnctl

/d2/R12/ab/apps/R1211XB9/apps/tech_st/10.1.2/opmn/bin/opmn" is not a Path in my installation - so I don't understand why that error:

/u02/applfind/apps/tech_st/10.1.2/opmn/bin/opmnctl: line 636: /d2/R12/ab/apps/R1211XB9/apps/tech_st/10.1.2/opmn/bin/opmn: No such file or directory

                                It must be generic.

Looking at the ohclone.log above, could line stating "Home may already be registered" be the main cause of this inability to add  Apps 10.1.2 & 10.1.3 in the create new oraInventory?

What a show stopper this has been for almost a week?

                                Thanks for your help.

                                  Hi Hussein,

To add to the above, I just realized that some directory is missing in my PROD from where I cloned this instance (DEV):

                                  $ORACLE_HOME/admin/

                                  and consequently

                                  $ORACLE_HOME/admin/oui/$CONTEXT_NAME/oraInventory/logs

                                  Is this normal?

Can I recreate this local inventory?

Could this be the cause of my problems?

                                  Thanks.

                                  Mathias
