Tero Rantaruikka Nov 13, 2012 1:18 PM (in response to grieben)Good points. You also have to consider that most people are curious and want to see what happens when you scan the form the minute they see it. I definetly would It might be a good idea to turn off all the processing steps before the actual event exept for a a landing page with a note thanking the contact for their eagerness and stating that this will not work until the event.

grieben Nov 13, 2012 2:47 PM (in response to Tero Rantaruikka)Good Catch Tero, we thought the same thing. We made ours a version a confirmation page that thanked them for registering and reminded them to bring it with them on the day of the event before redirecting to the home page. Some people like to put cheeky messages but you need to remember to change them so we just provided the reminder.

Vinutha Nataraju Dec 11, 2012 11:14 AM (in response to skolterman)Hi team, I just installed the cloud component and after generating the code, I am facing an issue in opening the url.
When the qr code is scanned the url has issues, when i checked the URL it has http://https://secure.eloqua.com.......
I think http://https:// is causing the issue. Can anyone please help me out in getting the correct url on the phone.
Thanks for the support.

24. Re: Using QR codes for to confirm event attendance
Tero Rantaruikka Jan 3, 2013 11:35 AM (in response to grieben)Mike, I couldn't figure out how create a process for cheking if the code has been already scanned. When the QRcode form is submitted the value 'Attended' is written but what about after that? Since I can't seem to designate the order on which the steps are executed and the redirect step is the last one processed, all the submissions will by default have the value 'Attended'.

25. Re: Using QR codes for to confirm event attendance
grieben Jan 3, 2013 7:16 PM (in response to Tero Rantaruikka)Hi Tero,
I would use this solution ideally only in situations where its not imperative a scan only happens once. If its for that i would invest in an event management solution such as Cvent or Eventbrite and the like. I think if that is absolutely necessary its better to have a proven solution to fall back on rather than digging back and forth through reports if you are onsite and run into a dispute.
That being said however if i wanted to add that functionality to this solution in eloqua I would add a contact field that would be a scan counter instead of the "Attended" field. Have an update rule that increments the field by 1 on each scan so that the first scan produces a 1 value and any additional scan is greater than.
You could then have 2 redirects that are conditional, one success that is dependent on the condition counter field is exactly 1 and another that is a failure when the field is not exactly 1.
You also have the ability to do conditional redirects on custom data cards so if you are comfortable using those feel free to as well.

Tero Rantaruikka Jan 4, 2013 6:20 AM (in response to grieben)Thanks Mike. I'll try that solution. Seems to depend on the order of steps that Eloqua system goes through.

27. Re: Using QR codes for to confirm event attendance
grieben Jan 4, 2013 3:30 PM (in response to Tero Rantaruikka)Let me know how it goes. The update processing steps run first and the redirects are last so you should be fine. If in your testing you are finding the updates too slow you can change your conditions to blank and not blank and receive the same result. I have been doing something similar with Opt in forms. I have a standard opt in that we like to verify yearly so each form i create conditionally redirects to the opt in form or just a success page based on a valid opt in value. You should be able to use the same for this scenario.

grieben Jan 7, 2013 7:24 PM (in response to Tero Rantaruikka)One more important thing to mention is to have the contact email exactly matches as well as your field value in your conditional criteria. This one caught me this morning when testing.
