You'll need a Firewire Disk Unit. Buy the Firewire adapter box, and install inside your disk.
And of course, follow this link:

          My best regards.

you can create a virtual disk by vmware. it is a shared disk by two nodes of vmware vitual machine. then you have the shared storage disk .

              hi,

I did use the shared disk betweek both nodes and mentioned disk.locking = true and disklibcache..etc 5 parameters in the vmx files.

              configuration is
              RHEL 4 guest two nodes
              win2000 adv server host
              rac 10g r2
              vmware gsx 3.2.1

i could install the crs and db sw. but after a little while the second node hangs and i had to reboot every now and then...it happens may be after 10 mnts after bootup that i hangs invariably.

              pl help

I'm having difficulties setting up shared disk.

                My configuration is:
Host OS: Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4 Update 4
                vmware server 1.0.2

What lines did you add to the vmx file? I added the following.
                - disk.locking = "FALSE"
                - diskLib.dataCacheMaxSize = "0"
                - scsi1.sharedBus = "virtual"
                - scsi1:0.deviceType = "disk" (one for each disk)

When I add scsi1.sharedBus = "virtual" , the virtual machine doesn't start. When I power on, I get a black screen for about 2 seconds before it returns to the "power off" state. I don't even see the VMWARE STARTING screen.

When scsi1.sharedBus = "virtual" is removed, I get the VMWARE starting screen and proceeds without any issues.

Replacing scsi1.sharedBus = "virtual" with, for each disk, scsi1:0.shared = "true" has the same effect.

What am I missing? Are there any logs that may provide more details on the failure?

Here is my vmx config file. The uuid.<var> and scsi<n1>:<n2>.redo were added after powering up the virtual machine.
