Kernel panic in cpqary3 driver when booting

    Thorsten Heit

Today I tried the Solaris 11.3 beta on an older HP Proliant server (ML350G5). The system doesn't boot; it immediately panics.

I remember that during the Solaris 11.2 beta phase I had similar problems on that machine, and at that time I finally figured out that the built-in cpqary3 driver was the cause of these panics. By the way, this bug is still contained in the 11.2 final release.

This also seems to be the case in the actual beta: Replacing the /kernel/drv/amd64/cpqary3 driver file with an older one (I guess it must be the one from 11.1 I'm actually using) lets the machine boot again...
