I've got a system who's nic wants to stay "down" despite the link LEDs on both the nic and the switch showing an active link. It should have a static ip address based on the "sysconfig configure" command I just ran.
"ipdam show-if" shows this data for the nic in question:
"net0 ip failed no ---"
"dladm show-phys" shows this data for the nic in question:
"net0 Ethernet down 0 unknown ixgbe0"
What steps can I perform to troubleshoot this? Is there a way to forcefully reset everything about this nic?
So after a little more digging i found the immediate issue. I had been trying to configure "net0" but looking at the mac addresses i see the "net0" name got assigned to a different (unused) nic port.
What had been net0 is now net5. Weird.
Is there a way to tell Solaris to re-probe and totally re-assign default network link names?
