Thanks for the update. I have figured this issue. I installed the wrong version (64 bit) instead of 34 bit. Once I installed the 34 bit .exe it worked fine.
I have the same problem as above but a kind of its owns.
I have 64 Bit word and Excel and i have installed the BI Publisher for 64 Bit. The issue is i do not see the BI publisher plug -in on my word document but only see it on my Microsoft excel.
But on Word document
I Have tried all the combination of the above solution but for some reason the PLug in fails to appear on my word document.
Please let know the solution at the earliest.
1. Go to File > Options > Trust Center
2. Click on Trust Center settings and Click on Add-ins
Can you please provide us a screenshot of what appears in this dialog? Most likely, your BI Publisher add-in is listed under Inactive add-ins.
i had Microsoft Office 2013 64 bit and it was not accepting the BI publisher desktop for 64 bit but only accepted the 32 bit.
So i got my IT team to downgrade my office 2013 to 32 bit and installed the 32 bit bi publisher desktop and it worked fine.
please verify your ms word architecture
if its 32-bit then install 32-bit BI desktop else 64-bit
Please check for your architecture i.e if its 32-bit or 64-bit
Also run the setup as administrator even though you the admin of your tool

MS Office 365 Personal Solution:
1. Verify that the WORD is in version 32. (File / Account / About Word)
2. It must be in 32 bits of not being uninstalled and reinstalled (Microsoft allows reinstallation). Default on NEW computers comes preinstalled but 64 bit version.
3. Download the 32-bit BI version (ONLY 32 BITS)
4.100% functional after reviewing forums.
5. Luck. It works for me.
This approach is work for me, after I look to microsoft word version that mention 32 bit, I do above step, and now BI publisher is working properly...
Ok. Thanks !!!
I am also having problems with this. My computer is 64 bit, yet our Word is 32 bit.
I first installed the 32 bit version of BI Publisher, and it broke all of my Office products and we had to re-image my machine. After that, I installed the 64 bit version and all seemed to go well. But now when trying to import an XML file, I get a "Message 39" error.
Does anyone know a way to get this working?
Installing 32bit version of BI Publisher went fine for me. Thanks !
What I've learned about BI Publisher Desktop is that it needs to match the bit version of MS Office you are using - if you use 32 Bit office use 32 it BI Publisher Desktop.
Also, don't forget to "enable" it after it is installed. Even after it is enabled, the BI Publisher tab may not show up in MS Word when you open a form. If that happens, go into the File/Options/Add-ins and find BI Publisher Template Builder for Word, click on it, then click Go at the bottom. If it is not checked, check it and click OK. It should work for that form.
I agree. I have MS Office 365 ProPlus suite on a 64 bit machine/Windows 7 Enterprise. I installed 64 bit version and got results like seen in this thread. I uninstalled according to uninstall instructions in this thread, rebooted, downloaded 32 bit version and installed successfully.
One caveat - - the first time I tried installing (the 64 bit version) I had Word open. The install requested that I close it and exited. I closed Word and restarted the install. There is some chance that that screwed up my 64 bit install but not sure. Just make sure to re-boot clean and that Word (or anything else) is closed.
I am also facing the same problem with my installation. Could you please help me out you got it working someway.
What we found is that you must use the version of BI Publisher Desktop that is included in the specific documentation for the version of OPM you are using.
Also, the bit version of BI Publisher Desktop must match the bit version of MS Word and Excel not your MS Windows Operating system bit version.
For example, if you are running 32-bit MS Office on a 64 bit-Windows machine, install the 32-bit version of BI Publisher Desktop.
