    Report Design-Display issue

    Kalpataru

      I have designed a report which is a .RDF file for displaying some data grid(details data) wise.

      The .RDF is designed in the report builder version Report Builder 10.1.2.0.2.

      But you can see from the screen sort that some middle portion of the grid line is missing.

      Parent frame properties set Vertical Elasticity ---> Expand Or Variable

      Grid_1.JPG

      Requirement is that i want to show the full line see the screen sort attached.

      I have not used any line , the line is of Parent frames border line itself.

      Any help is appreciated.

          Dear,

          If verticial elasticty is set only for branch field, then you can set the border color (for botton only) to branch field.

          Manu.

            Thanks Manu. for your reply.

            I don't required the set the border colour , i want that the default border black should come with the grid which is  missing in the first image.

            The line is missing due to vertical elasticity of the fields is set to Expand or Variable.

            You can check by designing a demo report if your text is small then the line is displaying perfectly , if the text is long then the line is missing.

            I hope you will got the issue.

              Dear,

              Check whether the branch field's Line Color is No Line. If it is already No Line, then assign a color and then again set as No Line. Then this should be corrected.

              Manu.

                The line i want to display is not the line of the field , it is the line the Repeating Frame(where the query is assigned).

                Create a demo report & check.

                  I understand that, and I am talking about the line of the control. The frame s already set with the line color as black. I checked by creating a sample report, and it is working fine for me.

                    Yes the frame s already set with the line colour as black.

                    But i don't understand what is working fine.

                    My report is also working fine when the text printed is small , but when the text is big it is stretched the field and the below line.

                    Take this script and check.

                    Create Table Print_Text_Test
                    (Print_ID Number,
                     Print_Text Varchar2(100),
                     Print_Date Date
                     );

                    BEGIN
                        INSERT INTO PRINT_TEXT_TEST
                           (PRINT_ID, PRINT_TEXT, PRINT_DATE)
                         VALUES
                           (1, 'Small Text.', TO_DATE('01/11/2018 17:23:00', 'MM/DD/YYYY HH24:MI:SS'));
                        INSERT INTO PRINT_TEXT_TEST
                           (PRINT_ID, PRINT_TEXT, PRINT_DATE)
                         VALUES
                           (4, 'Very Small Text', TO_DATE('01/11/2018 17:28:00', 'MM/DD/YYYY HH24:MI:SS'));
                        INSERT INTO PRINT_TEXT_TEST
                           (PRINT_ID, PRINT_TEXT, PRINT_DATE)
                         VALUES
                           (2, 'This is a big text to print in this report.', TO_DATE('01/11/2018 17:24:00', 'MM/DD/YYYY HH24:MI:SS'));
                        INSERT INTO PRINT_TEXT_TEST
                           (PRINT_ID, PRINT_TEXT, PRINT_DATE)
                         VALUES
                           (3, 'This is another big text to print in this report.', TO_DATE('01/11/2018 17:28:00', 'MM/DD/YYYY HH24:MI:SS'));
                    END;

                    I have used the following query in the report.

                      SELECT   *
                        FROM   Print_Text_Test
                    ORDER BY   Print_ID;

                    Report design screen sort, also remember that report fields have no line only repeating frame has the black line.

                    Hope now it will be clear to you.

                      My guess is that the text fields in the PDF are a bit too big and are covering the lines.

                        Dear,

                        I tried the same and it is working fine.

                        This is the screenshot of PDF I generated. By the way, I am using reports 6i.

                            Did you try creating a sample? because it is working fine for me. ( I tried in 10g & 11g report builder too, and its working fine.)

                              What do you mean by creating a sample ?

                              I have already created a sample and given the screen sorts here.

                              I have designed the report manually ?

                              Do you create the sample through the report builder wizard or manually ?

                                I created the report using wizard. Will update the status by creating manually tomorrow.

                                  Dear,

                                  I tried in manual mode, and I got the same issue. Just keep little space at the top of the fields ( in between the frame's top edge and the controls top edge), then the issue will be solved.

                                  Hope this helps.

                                    I don't understand what you are saying, why because i have tried keeping space top of the fields but the same issue.

                                    Check the screen sort

                                    Can you post a screen sort ?
