Does any one know if the ixgbe driver in Solaris 11.4 will support the Intel x553 chipset found in eg the Denverton SoC? Or if there are any alternatives to a supported driver? BTW, SOl 11.4 beta seems to run just fine on a SuperMicro A2SDi-HNL4F Deneverton board except for the network.
Although the ixgbe driver code may theoretically work, X553 network devices were not tested so their device IDs were not added to the /etc/device_aliases file, and they are currently not supported in Solaris 11.4. You could try running scanpci to find your specific network device-ID, then add it to the the device_aliases file so that the ixgbe driver will attach. You may then use the Oracle HCTS and submit results to Oracle Solaris HCL, so the system or device may be added to the HCL as either Certified or Reported to Work.
