    RobinT

      I am using orachk version 18.4.0_20181129 on My Suse linux 12 server. Oracle RDBMS 12C R2 is installed. No database installed.

      When I run the utility (with root and oracle user), I have this error message:  [Errno 2] No such file or directory: '/bin/oracle'. Whta's wrong ?

      Ia have set RAT_ORACLE_HOME variable like this : export RAT_ORACLE_HOME=/opt/oracle/product/12.2.0

      ----------------------------------------------------------
      PATH                             : /opt/oracle/product/12.2.0/suptools/orachk

      COLLECTIONS DATA LOCATION        : /opt/oracle/orachk/
      ----------------------------------------------------------

      This computer is for [S]ingle instance database or part of a [C]luster to run RAC database [S|C] [C]: S

              RobinT, I found the following Suse specific article that might be the issue

              - -

              ORAchk fails on SuSE Linux (Doc ID 2325573.1)

              - -

              If not then here is a similar error that points to a question, have you installed an Oracle Home already?

              - -

              Exachk Errors [Errno 2] No such file or directory (Doc ID 2481796.1)

              - -

                1- The rdbms 12cR2 is already install in =/opt/oracle/product/12.2.0

                2- But There is no database and no RAC

                  RobinT, did you verify the location of env is in /bin rather than /usr/bin as per the first note?  -- Mark D Powell --

                    Dude!

                    Have you seen the following:

                    https://community.oracle.com/community/support/support-blogs/database-support-blog/blog/2015/11/09/how-to-use-orachk-to-…

                    There's also a link to the appropriate support forum/space at the end.

                      Yes, I already have created the link  in bin directory:

                      cd /bin

                      ln -s /usr/bin/env env

                        RobinT, are you getting the exact same error?  Also it varies by platform but you do not have the LD_LIBRARY_PATH defined.  You may want to add the parameter though I do not know if it will make any difference to your issue.

                          I have the same error and also with LD_LIBRARY_PATH defined.

                            Dude!

                            I suggest to try something very simple to see it that works:

                            # su - oracle

                            $ source oraenv

                            (Enter valid SID - note case sensitive)

                            $ export RAT_ORACLE_HOME=$ORACLE_HOME

                            $ orachk -v

                            • 11. Re: orachk error on suse linux
                              RobinT

                              I dont have any SID beacause no database. Just rdbms installed.

                                Already have release 18. Solution: I must a database installed to run orachk.

                                  >> I must a database installed to run orachk  <<

                                  - -

                                  Which I think the second reference in my post from 3 days ago pointed to.  If exachk required that the database exist before you could run it then it is likely the same requirement exists with orachk since exachk is just the exadata enhancement of orachk.
