Integration of EPBCS with FCCS and upgrade questions

    2819644

      Hello Everyone,

We are in process of migrating our HFM 11.1.2.3 version to the cloud (FCCS).

We have vb scripts , and FDQM in our on premise version  - wanted some clarification from users who have experience with the upgrade/revamp of the application.

      1) How many alternate hierarchies are allowed in the Entity dimension ( currently we have 5)

      2) Is there a cap on the permissible number of members in FCCS.

      3) In case we have some users who just need to view reports/data and do not need to perform any operations - would EPBCS license suffice for them?

      4) What limitations should we expect in FCCS in comparison to on premise- have read many blogs but would like to hear some live examples.

      5) Currently we have :LGAAP,IFRS ,Actual and Cash Flow reporting scenarios.

      6) Does the FDM drill back to the ERP source work as expected?

      Truly appreciate everyone's help.

          1) no limits to the number of entity hierarchies.

          2) there are recommended limits but they're pretty high. Also, you have to understand the total number of members across all dimensions to answer your question. In general I wouldn't worry about it unless you have some dimensions with tens of thousands of members. Anything in the hundreds or thousands of members should be fine.

          3) I believe any user who would access data coming from FCCS needs an FCCS subscription. FCCS has nothing to do with EPBCS unless you intend to copy the data from FCCS into PBCS and use that for reporting. Then in that case the user only needs access to EPBCS and not FCCS. That's a system-design question of whether this would meet your needs.

          4) FCCS has nearly all the functionality HFM has, at least the functionality used by 90% of companies. You should put together a list of features you use in HFM and cross-check that with FCCS. Said another way, you should confirm this for yourself rather than rely on public content. The reason I say this is because the cloud products are updated regularly whereas blog posts are rarely updated.

          5) multi-GAAP has its own dimension in FCCS and does not need to fit into the scenario dimension. Likewise, cash flow has its own dimension in FCCS and does not fit into the scenario dimension.

          6) I'm not sure.

There is an Oracle cloud specific forum you should check out, called Cloud Customer Connect where you can get some very good details answers to your questions. There are regular webcasts from Oracle too so you can go and watch some of the product feature updates.

            Chris,

            1) no limits to the number of entity hierarchies.

Am assuming you are referring to alternate hierarchies with shared members. A consultant had mentioned that there is limit.

Thanks a ton for the detailed reply.

Yes based on our initial analysis ( from oracle documentation) - what ever we need is being provided in FCCS .

Just wanted to ensure if something that is provided out of the box does not satisfy our need how easy is it to customize it .
