Question about changing character set for EBS 12.1.3

    Brian.B

Currently we are running an in house database and Oracle EBS 12.1.3. Within EBS we are using AP, AR and General Ledger.

Both databases are using 11.2.0.4. I am planning on upgrading the in house database to 12.2.0.1. I am staying with 12c because

we are using Change Data Capture and that was desupported for 18c. I am also upgrading via transportable table spaces since

our system table space is over 100GB, and using transportable tablespaces is the easiest way to shrink the system table space.

Hence, I want to continue to use the WE8ISO8859P1 characterset.

Give that we are on 12.1.3 and the only 12c version that is supported is 12.1, I will be upgrading the EBS instance to database

version 12.1. We have DB links that connect the databases in both directions. so I want to use the WE8ISO8859P1 character

set for EBS as well. The EBS database is much smaller, and I will probabably upgrade that with DBUA, hence I should be able
to change the character set at the same time. I'm not sure why we are using US7ASCII rather than something that handles

      European characters.

Is the WE8ISO8859P1 character set supported for EBS 12.1.3? I am thinking about upgrading to UTF8 when I do the next

upgrade in a few years. Is there any advantage to doing that now? Does keeping the character set the same make sense?

I should add that I am not an APPS DBA, but I am my companies only DBA, hence I am learning how to work with APPS.

      Thanks,
