The error ORA-03113 means that the imp process lost connection to the database.

        ORA-03113: end-of-file on communication channel

Cause: The connection between Client and Server process was broken. It may also happen if the external agent extproc crashes for some reason.

Action: There was a communication error that requires further investigation. First, check for network problems and review the SQL*Net setup. Also, look in the alert.log file for any errors. Finally, test to see whether the server process is dead and whether a trace file was generated at failure time.

And consider changing your vendor. It's either 20 years behind current technology or does not know how to explain a simple process

Not only are the 20 years behind, they don't seem to understand that there is ZERO relationship between the user doing the export and the one doing the import.  Of course YOU know that, but apparently neither the OP nor his vendor does.

To the OP.  That assertion from your vendor is totally bogus.  The export can be run by ANY user with the appropriate privileges.  The import can be run by any user with the appropriate privileges.  There is no inherent connection between the two.

I am running this command locally, on the server (remote desktop). I have no problem with Oracle SQL developer and Oracle Enterprise Manager.

When you include the '@dbname' in your connection string, you are connecting via the network, even if the client and host are on the same machine.

              • 19. Re: ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve the connect identifier specified

The connection, even if it is done on the same server, is made through network when using @xxxxxx

Have you checked the alert log file or trace files to know more details from the error? The message you receive (ORA-03113) is recorded by imp when the connection is lost, maybe on the "database" side (alert log, trace) there are more details regarding the problem.

Well, there is a division by 0 error during the imp process, and the process on the server side crashes.

This problem is completely different than the one you described on the title, and that one is solved (you managed to connect to the DB and now understand the user / password / connection to be used.

I would recommend you to open a new question on the XE forum, explaining the details of this new problem,

Something like "Division by 0 and ORA-07445 while running imp on 18c XE"

Include the syntax for the imp, and the error you receive on the imp log and what you found on the alert log.

Also include the version of the dump file!!! There may be problems if you try to import an imp file created with 9i or 10g version of the exp command.

Above shows that XE instance has major problems.

impdp requires a correctly functioning instance before it can succeed.

IMO, the issues shown above need to be resolved before wasting time on resolving any other errors.

And remember to follow this guideline when asking questions on the forums:

Re: 2. How do I ask a question on the forums?

And once you have a correct answer identify and mark it (like you did on this thread) , together with other helpful answers, so others having the same issue in the future benefit from the discussion
