Dude! Sep 18, 2019 7:39 PM (in response to Jim-D)Don't know if this is the right expression, but I have only one word to say about Groundbreakers:
Alienating.

Stefan Jager Sep 19, 2019 10:14 AM (in response to Dude!)With the risk of being very rude (but I'm Dutch, so that excuses me ), I'd say: useless. I only used to go there because I had not bookmarked this Feedback community. But since the link to this feedback community has dissapeared from that front page, I updated and added to my bookmarks: so I probably won't see that page anymore. For me there simply isn't anything of interest on it (and, as has been said before: I don't like the term groundbreaker).

Rewind a year and substitute "grey" for "yellow/gold"...

4. Re: Feedback about the new Groundbreakers page
Dude! Sep 24, 2019 12:52 PM (in response to Jim-D)I found the following today:
Meet Carla De Bona, recipient of the 2019 Groundbreaker Award presented by Oracle. As cofounder of reprograma, a women's empowerment initiative, she is paving the way to reduce the gender gap in the technology sector through education.
Groundbreaker is apparently about reducing the perceived gender gap, and I suppose the last rebranding made me part of it. I think it's a great idea if it helps to improve community participation and engagement, but I don't see positive results.
The Groundbreakers page, in my opinion, is a poor presentation and leaves much to be desired, for the reasons other members have already explained. Paying attention to details is important and should not be underestimated.
Gender plays no significant role in my professional life, and career and success should always be a question of merit. To celebrate events and role models concerning gender does not comply with the values or the ideology that I have grown up with. I can understand the personal ambition and enthusiasm, but considering the international background of the community, management may have opened the box of Pandora, and I question the political experience of the people involved.

5. Re: Feedback about the new Groundbreakers page
Dude! Sep 24, 2019 5:53 PM (in response to Dude!)As a matter of fairness, and as I discovered further, I would like to add that there were 4 Groundbreaker award winners according to https://developer.oracle.com/groundbreakers. This, however, is not mentioned at the Oracle Groundbreakers home page.
So it appears that the previous developer or OTN community, or product forums, which helped Oracle users to solve technical problems for the last decade, wasn't actually rebranded, but was shifted to the new Groundbreaker community, which, however, is different from this community, similar to the ACE program. The former OTN community has practically been abandoned and gets no more recognition than a footnote, except for the part of the community that started the Women in Technology initiative.

Jim-D Oct 14, 2019 6:19 PM (in response to Jim-D)James M. Finch-Oracle - I see that the paragraph starting with "When Oracle Cloud engineer Todd" has been updated nicely.
Do you have any feedback to our feedback?
Thanks!

James M. Finch-Oracle Oct 15, 2019 12:33 PM (in response to Jim-D)Hi Jim,
I do appreciate and have read and implemented certain things from the feedback. Alas, some of them (hyperlinks opening a new window, fonts in the feeds) are Jive specific things I can't change as that's how the platform handles things. Others, (hamburger menu options, twitter) aren't my call but will be followed up on.
From now on when we get the articles to feature, we'll just quote enough of the article to fill the space rather than a summary. It should space out better and overall improve the look of the page.
I'll go through and see what else we can implement and again, we'll take everything into consideration as we move forward.
Best,
Jim

Jim-D Oct 15, 2019 12:57 PM (in response to James M. Finch-Oracle)James M. Finch-Oracle - One more thing:
Where it says "New to the Community? Welcome! Learn the rules of the road, how to make your first post, how to earn your first badge and more! Get Started!",
the "Get Started" link takes you to an unrelated https://www.oracle.com/openworld/ page instead of the Getting Started community.
