    Oralce GG replace with datagard.

    1029775

      Hi,

We planning to implement GG  with  Data Guard or  physical standby

Please find the below are the configuration described.

The configuration described contains two databases:

      - System A is the primary Data  base

      - System B is the standby Data base.

      - Syetem C is the Target systems

      --system D is  target system

      1) how to implement on RAC 2 node

      Scenario 1: Switch over mechanism

      Thanks

          the question says
" Oralce GG replace with datagard."

Please elaborate on your use case.

Are you planning to use GG as a DR solution instead of DG?

              (or)

Do you want to implement GG along with your DG  Setup? If so, Please provide the DB versions as well.

                  Hi ,

                  thanks for  replying  back .

we want  to  check  two and  three  scenario .

                  1) can we  install  GG on DR as source  not  primary and  replicate  data to  other  two  target , is it  possible ?  i tried but  it say  error  database should R/W mode. let  me know that can  we  done (RAC 2 node).

                  2)  if  possible from primary then how switch over will work  .

                  3)   any document with ACTIVE ACTIVE  primary  and standby with  two  target .

i am  looking  for  document  for all  above  three   scenario .

                  Thanks,

                  Surendra,

Confirm us on Database version and if you're using multi-tenant feature, XA transactions and compression feature.

                    1) Integrated extract needs your DB to be in read-write. Again if you're using XA, Compressed tables, Container database best possible option is to use Integrated mode. You should configure integrated extract against the primary DB. If you cannot afford to do so, you may configure a downstream database for logmining (just RFS will be configured to ship logs). You may check feasibility of using Classic mode owing to DB features specified above in use.

                    2) Basically manual intervention is required for GG during failover and switchover scenarios. It would be difficult to comment on what exactly would be required without knowing much on the configuration front in your environment. You can refer below document

Best Practice - Oracle GoldenGate 11gr2 Integrated Extract and Oracle Data Guard - Switchover/Fail-over Operations (Doc ID 1436913.1)

                    3) I'm not sure on your question, are you looking to configure Active-Active replication between your Source and Target? If that is the case, replication should always be configured between Primary Source and Target databases.

                      database  version  11.2.0.4
