Has anybody seen any slow database connectivity with 12i VIS database on win 2003.
I installed 12i on win 2003 and am having issues connecting to the database.
my machine has 3GB RAM and is 32-bit.
When I try to connect to the database using SQL or SQL navigator it take more 5 minutes for it to get conencted.
The ConcMgr errors out because of the slow conenction. I tried to run adadmin and it slowed down my whole machine to almost stand still
Any ideas what might be the cause?
I've installed on a P4 3.0GHz Win 2003 SP1 with 1.25GB and the system was crawling. I've placed an order of one GB hoping that it might help.

when running apps and went to system administrator it asked for j2se re 5 update 10, that is not available free at sun, can i install update 12. will it go.
Yes, it does work.

I am trying to create a Domain while installing windows server 2003. System is giving an error. Do I have to create a domain or maintain a workgroup? Can some one please tell me.
You do not have to join a domain. You need to configure the primary DNS suffix as follows:
Right click on My Computer > Properties >
- Click on "Computer Name" tab > Click "Change" > Click on "More"
- Enter the domain name under "Primary DNS suffix on this computer"
For example, if you want to use "xyz.com" as the domain, enter "xyz.com" under "Primary DNS suffix on this computer".
- Click OK, reboot the computer
- From the command prompt, make sure you can do the following:
C:\> ping hostname
C:\> ping hostname.domainname
what do u mean by the following :
'C:\VCPlus' -- Make sure not to install VC++ in a directory that contains spaces.
Please throw some light on this.
Make sure not to install VC++ in a directory that contains spaces.Means, NOT to install it in a directory which has spaces in name, like "C:\Visual C" -- there is a space between Visual and C, "C:\Program Files\VC" -- There is a space between Programs and Files .. etc.
