Alright, and how does that all relate to log_buffer question?!

This all mess reminded me of kindergarten battles.

FYI, There are private blogs where you can keep your personal score. No need to rant in the thread called "log_buffer".

          Adeledda,

The technical content of this thread has been covered. That should be sufficient.
Please refrain from further non-technical comment.

Are you folks really going to take arms over I/O slaves? Folks, there is no platform of relevance that needs I/O slaves. A single LGWR on even the largest SMPs can keep up with even the heaviest of heavy redo generation using async I/O.

Most of this stuff is so port-specific it isn't worth discussing.

Ugh! This thread is enough to make my consider switching to SQL-Server. (well, not really ...)

Is it me, or is the pomposity and arrogance of Jonathan's statement just overwhelmingly mind-blowing, given the "ya boo, sucks to you!" playground fight HE took part in with Don that trampled to death the very essence of Technical Debate?

Jonathan, this sort of "You rotter, you're bringing this Forum into disrepute." snipe is (and you MUST see this) just incredible, following-on, as it does, from YOUR catty cyber fisticuffs with Don.

You do NOT own this Forum, OK?

If you are isolating it to Jonathan, then ... it's you.

Pomposity and arrogance - and inability to shut up - are the trademark of Oracle specialists. Look through my posts for confirmation ...

                      Hans:

Nice reply; made me laugh... a bit.

Being arrogant, etc. is, I suppose, OK when one is a "giant" in one's field, but even a rarely challenged ego must have its limits.

For Jonathan to loftily admonish a Forum Member for failing to address the technical issues, when the whole reason for the Thread having wandered down the ever-darkening path of non-technical back biting is at least 50% Jonathan's doing... well... I fail to see that anyone could really argue for that being anything but arrogance dressed-up in a sequined swimsuit.

                        Hi
the admonishments of Vlad, even if in this case with a coloured tones and over the lines form in my opinion (but it is just my opinion), and Jonathan are substantially right

                        the guilt fundamentalally is mine that i left myself to drag in the controversy (although i'm little sorry that nobody has picked also the funny spirit) , field where i must admit Don is a King;
everyone will make own idea on the issue

democracy and freedom are important values but professionality dignity responsibility and ethics also are

                        Best Regards
