3004

Hi all,

I would like to know if it is possible to extract data fromHyperion using Microsoft SQL Server Data Transformation Services(DTS). If possible how do we do this? What and where can we get theODBC file to access the data in Hyperion Essbase? All replies tothis message will be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much.

Francis

You cannot connect to Essbase using the ODBC connections.

The best thing and easy thing to do would be to export the datafrom Essbase in text files and then load it into some relationaldatabase and then connect to the relational db for your needs.

You can frequently export data from essbase and load it intorelational as per your needs.

HTH

There is a Hyperion partner that has a product for getting data out of Hyperion applications and into other corporate systems. Star Analytics, which was created by several ex-Hyperion/Arbor people, has a product, Star Integration Server, that was designed for that purpose.

Tim

Using the JEXPORT CDF available on this site, you can export data from an Essbase block storage application to an ODBC destination via a calc script. In your DTS package, you could call a MaxL script that would run the calc, which would load the data you need into your relational database, and then move on to the next step of your DTS package.
