That's correct. DG4ODBC is now available for Linx x86-64 bit and it still requires a foreign ODBC driver. For Linux x86-64bit you need a 64bit ODBC driver from a 3rd party vendor. Oracle does NOT provide any ODBC driver to a foreign datab store.
I'm not allowed to talk about pricing but I wouldd get in touch with a local Oracle sales department to get the price for the Database Gateway for SQL Server and then compare it to the ODBC driver license.
Thanks for the info! My oracle rep is preparing a quote for me now.
Does Oracle Database Gateway for SQL Server 11g R1 also require the purchase of ODBC drivers?
No. This product is ready to use. You don't need to pay any additional ODBC driver license fees; just the DG4MSQL license.
So does this mean i will require both the DG4MSQL license and the 3rd party ODBC drivers for having a successful connection to SQL server 2005.
If you go with DG4MSQL, you do NOT need 3rd party ODBC drivers. The drivers are provided as part of the gateway.
I tested it out on my server and it works fine. Good Luck!
Hi Thanks for the info.
Is there a location where i can download the DG4MSQL and test it out on my development server before i can call oracle sales to purchase the license.
I've been looking up on oracle's download sites, in vain.
Common sites are edelivery and OTN download.
Here the OTN link:
=> accept the license agreement and download the gateways.
I have 2 questions:
1) Does DG4MSQL works with Oracle 10.2.0.2?
2) What is its cost?
1) 10.2.0.2: -> No. You need at least 10.2.0.3 with a compatibility patch or 10.2.0.4
2) Please contact Oracle sales.
