Access SQL Server 2005 using Oracle 10gR2 and DG4ODBC on Linux x86-64

I am trying to access SQL Server 2005 databases from an Oracle 10g R2 database running on a Linux x86-64 server. Until recently, I didn't think this was possible (because of the 32-bit versus 64-bit issue) but I received the information below from Oracle.
HS Generic Connectivity using ODBC (HSODBC) has had it's name changed to Oracle Database Gateway for ODBC (DG4ODBC).

DG4ODBC is certified and supported on Linux x86-64 bit. On Linux x86-64 ... DG4ODBC is a 64-bit executable and will require the use of a 64-bit ODBC driver. The ODBC driver you use is up to you .... but it must meet a minimum of ODBC v3.0 standard compliance.
I am planning to use DataDirect Connect64 for ODBC drivers which should work with DG4ODBC.

Has anyone compared the costs of the 64-bit ODBC drivers from DataDirect to the cost of Oracle's Database Gateway for SQL Server 11g R1?

Does Oracle Database Gateway for SQL Server 11g R1 also require the purchase of ODBC drivers?
