    Hello John,
from your link I can't see that the format is not supported by Office 2007. It only says that Office 2007 will use OOXML as default zu save documents.

    Hello Denes,
thanks for this wonderful package, I just played with idea of JAVA calling external Excel generator and then found this simple solution, usage of Excel-oriented HTML is really product of genius. :)

Are you still working on this package? I am especially interested in enhancement to support reports of type PL/SQL function returning a SQL Query, because I have lots of dynamically generated reports (based on time interval).

And one advice - it is possible to tell Excel to change page orientation to landscape by adding row "mso-page-orientation:landscape;" in @page section of header (recognized by setting it in Excel and saving document :) ).

    Jiri,

I do not support this package anymore. Actually, it has been set up and that's it. I think
with some PL/SQL knowledge, you can do it much better. However, I didn't have time to
deal with it - too many projects and so many other things to do. As you already noticed,
you can do much more with that package. Thanks for you advice.

    Hi Jiri,

We were able to update Denes package to support PL/SQL procedure returning a query. You can download it here:

    https://ishare.ucr.edu/xythoswfs/webui/_xy-1395824_1-t_h0uOwwgo

There is one thing you need to know. Bind variable (:PXXX_YYY) cannot be evaluated in the returned SQL. This must ve replaced by v('PXXX_YYY'). We have mostly evaluated page items and returned the actual value.

Hi, I have tried to implament this,
I have compiled the code, it works

the report I am testing it on is

    select COL1,COL2,COL3
    from TABLE_X

the export pulls up excel (2003)
    however
the first line I get the following

    Report Values Error: ORA-06550: line 1, column 166: PL/SQL: ORA-00936: missing expression ORA-06550: line 1, column 158: PL/SQL: SQL Statement ignored / -6550 / select from (select COL1,COL2,COL3 from TABLE_X)

    Any one came accross this?

    one other thing,
    in the instructions it states
    •     Your schema needs execute rights on DBMS_SQL package
    how do you do this?

    cheers

As far as the granting is concerned:

    GRANT execute ON DBMS_SQL TO <<your_schema>>;

    as SYS or SYSTEM.

Denes, I got our DBAs to run the grant for me allas no joy.

    Alesksy,
I don't think the report is interactive, (I think interactive reports are only optional in 3.1), it is just a test report to try the functionality of the package.

I am running apex 3 and excel 2003
I will try to reinstall the package see if that makes a difference

    heres hoping

    Reinstalled the package
Tryed to run it from SQL workshop SQL commands
got an error Script exceads 32k limit

So I imported the code using upload script
I run script and got two errors

    Line Number Unknown Statement
    1 SET DEFINE OFF
    4 SET VERIFY OFF

I then removed these two lines and ran the script, seemed ok
I went to object browser and recomiled the package succesfully

I followed the instruction on the readme
I created a very simple report

    select     WARD,
         WARD_DESCRIPTION,
         INITIALS,
         SURNAME
    from     IP_COUNCILLOR

in the report export I pasted in

    "<a href="f?p=&APP_ID.:0:&SESSION.:DOWNLOAD_EXCEL:NO::T_REGION_ID,T_EXCEL_NAME,T_PAGE:#REGION_ID#,my_report,&APP_PAGE_ID.">Download Excel</a>"

when the report runs It does launch excel
how ever the error I get is

    Report Values Error: ORA-06550: line 1, column 166: PL/SQL: ORA-00936: missing expression ORA-06550: line 1, column 158: PL/SQL: SQL Statement ignored / -6550 / select from (select WARD, WARD_DESCRIPTION, INITIALS, SURNAME from IP_COUNCILLOR)

    Anybody?
    cheers

It seems that (at least in APEX 3.1) apex_application_page_rpt_cols view has NULL values in include_in_export column.
Try modifying the package (PROCEDURE print_report_header) and replace
    " AND include_in_export = 'Yes' "
    with
    " AND NVL(include_in_export,'Yes') = 'Yes' "

Means you are missing the page 0. Create it.
