    vncserver startup error

We've just installed Oracle Unbreakable Linux (Enterprise Linux Enterprise Linux Server release 5.2 (Carthage)). We just installed with the default options for the most part. vncserver does exists on the machine but, whenerver we try to start it, we get the following error:

xauth: (stdin):1: bad display name "dorcn027-rac.rev.dor.ga.gov:1" in "add" command

Has anyone seen this before or have an idea how to resolve?

What we are trying to achieve here is a kde desktop over vncviewer.

What command are you using to start vncserver? What user are you logged in as when you do this?

For what it's worth. This worked for me:

            [root@captain-vm1 ~]# whoami
            [root@captain-vm1 ~]# cat /etc/enterprise-release
Enterprise Linux Enterprise Linux Server release 5.2 (Carthage)
            [root@captain-vm1 ~]# vncserver :1

New 'captain-vm1.us.oracle.com:1 (root)' desktop is captain-vm1.us.oracle.com:1

            Starting applications specified in /root/.vnc/xstartup
            Log file is /root/.vnc/captain-vm1.us.oracle.com:1.log

            [root@captain-vm1 ~]#

make sure the name of your machine is resolvable; try ping
              (ping dorcn027-rac.rev.dor.ga.gov)

please reply to sergio's question, and state to problem situation, including already done investigations by yourself.
