I have a database that worked fine until I tried to make a copy of it. Now I'm getting the error above and can't access my data at all.
I really need some help quick!
          Thanks in advance

            Hi,

Fnd the boot.ini and reserve the main memory for user application in windows

NOTE: BEFORE U DO THE FOLLOWINGS TAKE FULL BACKUP WITH CONTROLFILE,SPFILE AND PFILE

            (like
            [boot loader]
            timeout=30
            default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
            [operating systems]
            multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Windows Server 2003, Enterprise" /fastdetect/ 3GB )

            OR

DECRESE YOUR SGA AND PGA MEM.SIZE
(DECRESE IN PFILE AND START WITH PFILE)

NOW TRY TO START THE ORACLE SERVER IT WILL WORK

(IF IT WORK THEN CREATE SPFILE FROM PFILE)

            REPLY ME

For ORA 27101 error, either database is not up or environment variable is not set correctly.

                Oracle 10g R2 linux

                sqlplus username/password@tnsname

                ORA-01034: ORACLE not available
ORA-27101: shared memory realm does not exist
Linux Error: 2: No such file or directory

This error is caused when I try to setup a static registration with netmgr.
                Dynanmic is fine

The cause of the problem is in the listner.ora

                netmgr sets up oracle_home as
                (ORACLE_HOME = /ora2/app/oracle/product/10.2.0)
                which does not work

Change this setting and no other to
                (ORACLE_HOME = /ora2/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/)
and restart listner and it works
(notice the / at the end of the statement)

                Change back to
                (ORACLE_HOME = /ora2/app/oracle/product/10.2.0)
and restart listner and it stops working

                Please note:

Even if you set listner.ora up correctly and then make an irrelavant change in netmgr on the listner side of things netmgr will automatically truncate those usefull end / of all your static settings.

I think this maybe a bug in netmgr.

                regards

                  MORE INFO

It is not a bug in netmgr.

After more research I found out that

                  If your $ORACLE_HOME=/ora2/app/oracle/product/10.2.0
                  then your listner.ora should be
                  (ORACLE_HOME = /ora2/app/oracle/product/10.2.0)
                  (Just like netmgr sets up)

                  And

                  If your $ORACLE_HOME=/ora2/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/
                  then your listner.ora should have
                  (ORACLE_HOME = /ora2/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/)

In other words the listner.ora ORACLE_HOME must be the same as
                  $ORACLE_HOME

                  other wise it is

                  ORA-01034: ORACLE not available
ORA-27101: shared memory realm does not exist
Linux Error: 2: No such file or directory

                  at connect time.

                  Sorry for any confussion caused

                  regards

                  Stephen

P.s. Where I got a / from in my profile settings I will never know.

                    Hi,

your solution is absolutely right ....but I want to append one more solution on this problem.

I got this error ORA-27101: shared memory realm does not exist,ORA-01034 ORACLE NOT AVAILABLE...

because I try to login direct through my application schema user like
                    sqlplus "test123/test123" this way...

but when I try to login as sqlplus "/as sysdba" it shows me an idle instance...it means because of instance isn't up this error might be comes....As I start the instance and try to login with my application user ...it works perfectly...

                    Thanks...

                      Hi,
I know this subject has been answered and answered again but i can't figure out where is the solution for my problem. Besides, my english is not so good, so to find the right answer among so many posts is hard.
                      anyway.

So today i realized that i had memory problems on my oracle, i changed a few settings on init.ora, and using the Windows services that was built by former colleagues of mine, i stopped and restarted Oracle instance.
But now, when i try to connect, i get the following

                      C:\>sqlplus "/as sysdba"

                      So, where is the problem???
                      Thanks in advance...

The other day I installed oracle XE on windows 2003. It did not set any environment variables. Much later i needed todo a restart. Once restarted i got this same problem 'shared memory realm error ...'.

I fixed the problem by setting the following environment variables and restarting both the OracleXETNSListener and OracleServiceXE services.

                        ORACLE_HOME=C:\oraclexe\app\oracle\product\10.2.0\server
                        ORACLE_SID=xe
