# Remaining Duration & Hours per Time Period

When I have a schedule with activities that have an 8 hr /
day calendar, and a 10 hr / day calendar the finish dates
on the activities seem to be right, but the remaining
duration seems to be calculated off of the hours per time
period (Hrs/TP) in user preferences.
So, what is the point of remaining duration
calculating of to the Hrs/TP, and not the activates
calendar.

And how can I have a
schedule with different calendars and have the remaining
duration appear correct?

Ok, so is my question that good that no one has an
answer for it, or that stupid, that no one is taking

Are you saying that the Remaining Duration displayed
is not the difference between Finish Date and Data
Date?

Are you displaying days
or hours?

Correct, the data date is 12-05-08
The calendars are as in the description and 7
days a week
The gantt chart reflects the
start and finish dates.
I am not displaying
hours and my User Preferences -> Hours per Time
Period -> Hours / Day is set at 8.0
Remaining
Description Duration Start
Finish
10
hr/day 10
12-01-08 12-12-08
8
hr/day 10
12-01-08 12-14-08
calendar and your RD will calculate more correctly.
Hope this helps. GL

But if I have contractors working different calendars,
I would like to be able for the schedule to show that.
Contractor A is working 6 10hr days. Contractor B is
working 5 8hr days.

Is that not
possible for P6 to show the correct RD for both?

What are your Activity Type and Duration Type for
these activities?

What
relationships do you have in these activities?
What constraints do you have for
these activities?

I tired to make the simplest example, there is not
relationships and no constraints. They are just
activities riding the DD.

For
both of the activities the Activity Type is Task
Dependent, and the Duration Type is Fixed Duratino &
Units, and the % Complete Type is Duration.
There are no resources or roles.
Nothing special, just activities with different
Calendars.
