There should be no issues with this upgrade path. Just make sure you relink all binaries after an OS Upgrade to ensure that everything is working as expected.
- Take a backup of the application/database
- Upgrade the OS
- Relink all binaries
- Start up the application/database
- Take another backup once you confirm that everything works properly

Thanks for the update.
Our only concern is with the External tier with DMZ configuration and the discoverer server.
Since both these will needs to be contacted with the Database tier which is in Solaris 10 version. But at that time these 2 servers alone will be in Sun solaris 8 and we will be upgrading these 2 servers a later stage.
Just wanted to confirm, if there will be any issues with the External tier with DMZ services contacting the database because of this version conflict in the OS.
Thanks & Regards,
As long as you are running on a certified OS, there should be no issues.
Nothing is mentioned in DMZ documents about the application/database OS versions (provided that it is certified). However, you may log a SR and confirm this with Oracle support.
