why does this command not work:

    SQL> connect sys@orcl_10.178.0.210 as sysdba
    Enter password:

    ERROR:
ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve the connect identifier specified

When in fact that is my default orcl database and the appropriate listener?

    What am I doing wrong?

Furthermore, my first non-default db: cpweb61 won't allow me to login either:

    SQL> connect sys@cpweb61_10.178.0.210 as sysdba
    Enter password:
    ERROR:
    ORA-01017: invalid username/password; logon denied

    SQL> connect cpweb61@cpweb61_10.178.0.210 as sysdba
    Enter password:
    ERROR:
    ORA-01031: insufficient privileges

Any help would be greatly appreciated. *note: i'm a sysadmin so keep it a simple as possible :).

NM, I figured it out- for some reason my sys user didn't have the correct password. So I logged into my db using sysman and reset the sys pwd for my new db.

I did all this through SQL Developer- SQL Plus is just useless anyway.

Is it suitable for iSQL*Plus 10.2.0.1. on windows 7?
I did not find "htpasswd.exe" located in
    "$ORACLE_HOME/Apache/Apache/bin" for Oracle 10.2.0.1.

Cordially Waiting for anyone having solution relevant to Oracle 10.2.0.1 .

    Hi Everyone,

I tried to log in SQL PLUS, but when I typed the sys or system in the username and entered the password when I installed the database, it did not work.

Which username an password should I use when log in the SQL PLUS ?

    Thanks,

next time open new thread for your questions...

    cmd>sqlplus / as sysdba
    sqlplus>alter system sys identified by password;
