Bad news - I do not have a solution for you. However, I hope someone has one, as I seem to have the same problem.
I have a new laptop (Acer Timeline, if relevant) and put Apex 3.2 on it. After installing, everything seems to be fine. After a day or so, I get the same problem when I navigate to http://127.0.0.1:8080/apex - an error (and this has happened with both IE and Firefox).
I found the following link which speaks to a similar problem refering to a Vista security patch as a possible culprit (http://jeremyrupke.wordpress.com/2008/02/18/oracle-wont-start-httplocalhost8080apex-wont-open/). Unfortunately, no recommendation for a solution is offered there. But it is 6 months later, so hopefully someone else can help.
you have given three catch words acer, vista, apex 3.2 new insallation and it applied to me too along with the problem exactly you specified. I somehow overcome this problem temporarily but i also need permanent solution. Whenever i face this problem i go to dos prompt and type lsrnctl start and after that status and then quit. After coming back to windows prompt i run the apex page. Till I shut down there will not be problem. One more thing, i was advised to close all broadband connection also. This problem does not exist in XP. I do not know how to revert back to XP since i lost licence no of vista and also do not know the modolities to go for lower version.
i had similar problems. Here are my cents:
- Install the script @ORA_HOME\RDBMS\ADMIN\utlrcmp.sql and execute in SQL-PLUS
*"execute utl_recomp.recomp_serial();" after each operation*.
- Put the Apex-Dir in a small path, e.g. in D:\Apex.
- For apex 3.2 you have to proof the owa-version:
"Select owa_util.get_version from dual;". If the version is less than 10.1.2.0.6(it is in xe), goto subdir owa and execute @owainst.sql
- continue with @apexins.sql SYSAUX SYSAUX TEMP /i/
- Unlock the APEX_PUBLIC_USER ACCOUNT Alter User APEX_PUBLIC_USER ACCOUNT Unlock;
- Running the apex_epg_config.sql Configuration Script
ALTER USER ANONYMOUS ACCOUNT UNLOCK;
- Verifying the Oracle XML DB HTTP Server Port
SELECT DBMS_XDB.GETHTTPPORT FROM DUAL;
- Enabling Oracle XML DB HTTP Server, if zero returned
- Set PWD for Apex-admin(you have to change it at next login):
- goto http://localhost:8080/apex/apex_admin and continue the config.
Thank you for the response...I follwed your instructions during my initial install of APEX which worked fine...problem is that now it doesn't work.
I've tried reinstalling 10gXE, Apex, changing Listener.ora, changing Sqlnet.ora...almost everything I've found after 7 days searching this forum and Googling. Its very frustrating that so many people seem to have this issue and Oracle does not have a solution. This should be a known issue with the release.
i'm sorry for your problems. i had succes with this after i reinstalled XE. There are several other suggestions in this forum, but they didn't work for me.
Have you tried turning off any firewalls that your computer may be running ?
Yes, when I uninstalled XE, I performed a system restore to a point before I'd installed XE. Then I turned off all firewalls, allowed cookies, etc. and performed the install again. Still nothing.
I believe the root of my issue is the Listener not starting.
If I tnsping my host, it gives me ORA-12541 TNS : no Listener
If I try and perform a LSNRCTL -> Start, it gives me the following errors:
TNS-12546: TNS:permission denied
TNS-12560: TNS:protocol adapter error
TNS-00516: Permission denied
32-bit Windows Error: 13: Permission denied
Is the user account that you used to log-in to your computer a member of the 'ora_dba' group ?
If not then, add the account to the group and try starting the listener.
How can I find out the users in the ora_dba group?
Try Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Computer Management
Click 'System Tools' then 'Local Users and Groups'
Yes, the current user is a member of the ORA_DBA group.
I'm able to connect to sqlplus from the command line. I can perform a select * from all_tables, so I'm able to hit data.
I cannot get my Listener to start and get the TNS-12541: TNS:no listener error when I try and perform a "tnsping myhost".
Therefore, I cannot get the "Database Home Page" to open (i.e. Apex).
Rename listener.ora to some other name and then run 'lsnrctl'. What happens ?
