Is it possible to install Oracle collaboration Suite 10g be installed on Windows Vista? When i try to run it, i get following error:
Checking operating system version: must be 5.0, 5.1 or 5.2 . Actual 6.0
Can anybody help me to find the cause?
The cause is very clear. The installation script checks to see if the operation system is one of the supported systems/versions, and if it is not it writes an error message and refuses to install.
You might be able to edit the script by finding the correct line and add "6.0" there, but then you are running on a system that probably is not tested and might or might not work.
You would not want to run a production system on an unsupported platform (and then there is little point in testing on it in my opinion).
Vista is meant to be an en-user platform. Oracle releases server software ... why don't you call SAP and tell them "I can't install your ERP on vista" or ask a microsoft word version for HP-UX 11 ?
Kidding, but that is kinda logical
Though this is a zombie thread, for the sake of those seeking the answer:
1. Right-click on the setup.exe file
2. Select Properties
3. Select Compatibility tab
4. Select the "Run this program in compatibility mode for" check box
5. Choose "Windows Server 2003 (Service Pack 1)
Hope this will help a few people :-)
