Is it possible to send messages through DBMS_PIPE using external JAVA process instead of a pro*C daemon ?
I know that a stored procedure call PL/SQL procedures to send commands over a pipe to a Pro*C program that is listening for them.
I am looking for a java process instead of pro*C
Yes it is.. as the client will simply use DBMS_PIPE to receive the piped messages. DBMS_PIPE can be considered the transport layer. It has a client and server interface. Whether the caller using that interface is a local PL/SQL process, or a remote C/C++ process or Java process, is not relevant. The only criteria is that the caller must be a valid OCI/JDBC client (in other words, it must be able to "+talk+" SQL and PL/SQL to the Oracle instance).
