Oracle AERS version different depending on the user logged into the system

Hello all:

Please forgive my ignorance as I know little to nothing about Oracle in general. We have implemented Oracle AERS back in 2003 and no updates have been performed on the system since validation was completed.

When certain users login to the system, they are presented with a link for AERS version 4.3. When logging in with the SUPERUSER credentials, you are offered a link for AERS 4.3 and AERS 4.5 (as well as some other links for Global Administration and Configuration of the system).

How is it that the version presented is based on the user login or role/group permissions?

Does this make any sense to skilled Oracle DBA's out there?

If the version we have is no longer under support, does Oracle have a pay per incident support model that we can take advantage of?

Thank you in advance,

Paul D.

Couldnt really understand what you intended to ask..

However, as far as i am aware, Oarcle AERS was always Web Based has a portal based approach.

You have to first login to the Portal (If you login as Superuser - it gives you the option to Configure Forms, Reports, Configuration etc..),

After login into the portal you needs to add Oracle AERS as an External Application, after which you can launch the same. Again the launch page open the same Applet as for Oracle Clinical and you need to login into Oracle AERS.

However the password of Oracle AERS external application and portal is synced, which means that if you change it for Oracle AERS, it also changes for the Portal.

May not have answered your specific question...but hope it helps..

    Best regards

After further investigation, it seems this may be a bug in AERS 4.5.1. In the External Applications window (after signing into the portal) the link for the application says 4.3 even though the system is running 4.5.1.

It may be just a comestic error but can't seem to Customize that External Applications window because an HTML error is generated when clicking on the Customize link.

    Thanks for your help.

Paul - Actually it is not a bug. It is part of the features from Oracle Portal where each Portal user can customize the AERS homepage. To fix the problem with the label of "AERS 4.3", you need to update that page from Portal30 account.
