I am trying to upgrade my Jdeveloper from 220.127.116.11 to 18.104.22.168.0. The installation fails with the message: "The product maintenance level of the current installer (Jdeveloper and ADF:22.214.171.124.0) is not compatible with the maintenance level of the product installed on your system (Jdeveloper and ADF:126.96.36.199). Please obtain a compatible installer or perform maintenance on your current system to achieve the desired level".
So i wonder:
-what is maintenance level?
-is there a compatible installer? If yes, where?
-how do i perform maintenance on my current system to achieve the desired level?
Please, i need some help to fix this. I am trying to convince my customer that Jdeveloper is the right tool and i get stuck on what i thought was a simple upgrade.
Upgrade from 188.8.131.52 to 184.108.40.206.0. normally does mean you have to install jdev 220.127.116.11.0 into a fresh folder. You can't install it in a existing jdev installation.
:-) John, you beat me by the minute.

Well that's useful information, but i haven't even come to the point where i choose where to install Jdeveloper yet. The very first page asks me to choose middleware home directory. It's right after that that i get this message. Do i have to create a new middleware home? will there be a migration of what i've created in my old one (data sources for instance)?
Yes, you must create a new middleware home.
When you first run the new install of JDeveloper, it will ask you if you want to migrate settings from an earlier release; you should answer "yes" to get all of the configuration (including IDE data sources) migrated.
Guys, i appreciate your help and i'm impressed by your efforts to help me out. Thank you! I'll give this a shot first thing in the morning tomorrow.
I'm still confused why a simple x.x.x.1 release requires a brand new middleware home.
what were you doing wrong? Can you please tell? I am facing a same situation. I have installed weblogic generic installer and now when i try to install ADF libraries using the jdev generic file i get this error
