Using Evaluate function as columns source in Presentation services.

Can we use Evaluate function to get values from a datasource (Oracle DB in my case) and act as a column.
I have Custom DB function made in oracle DB, it takes INput string parameter and returns a string. I am directly calling this Evaluate function in the Edit formula for any column in my Subject area:

      EVALUATE ('FUNC_NAME(%1)','ABC')

      It gives following error.

State: HY000. Code: 10058. [NQODBC] [SQL_STATE: HY000] [nQSError: 10058] A general error has occurred. [nQSError: 14027] The navigator cannot handle the following request containing constants only: Evaluate( FUNC_NAME(%1),'ABC') as c1. (HY000)
SQL Issued: SELECT EVALUATE ('FUNC_NAME(%1)','ABC') saw_0 FROM XXX ORDER BY saw_0

Can't we use Evaluate function to directly call and receive value from the underlying database? Do we need to have a column from presentation services? Is there any other way to do this?
