Hi,1 person found this helpful
This Tyler Muth’s Blog might help you
Or you read this post:
Thanks for the suggestions. I tried the steps given there and ultimately it displayed an output in the SQL workshop.
But I'm still not sure how an RSS reader will take the updates from there and how to integrate it with any apex application. Please help if possible.

You can create form for table where is RSS info.
New lines are show in feed after you add new records to table.
Then call procedure in page process "Before header" like
Then go location
replace your_host, port, app_id and page_id accordingly.
I think it is client side feature when it "refresh" feed information.

I did use Tylers guide and demo is here
It helped. But still i've to address many problems.
1. when i run the page containing the code (htp.init; rss;) ,sometimes it shows the output while at others there's a page with no content. But if i go the view page source of that blank page, it contains the xml code.
2. google reader was able to fetch the RSS feeds. while in microsoft outlook the feed was not updating.
The above was tried on an experimental basis in apex.oracle.com
3.When i tried to implement it for my actual project, the readers like Google reader or even the microsoft outlook was not able to find the page in which i was outputting the RSS feed.
Any help will be appreciated.
Does my sample work ok whit those readers ?
I can not now access my sample source code.
I look it at evening and see if I did some other modifications.
Try add at last to page process
apex_application.g_unrecoverable_error := true;
My sample code in apex.oracle.com works fine with google reader or microsoft outlook.
But when i try to give the link of my actual project page(that outputs the xml code) to the google reader or microsoft outlook, these readers are no able to find the link itself.
Will we have to do any changes on the server side? Or any changes in the procedure for RSS is required?
Thanks for the help.
Is your HTTP server port open to internet so that Google can access your RSS fead URL?
This application is available only in the intranet and not available in the internet. It can't be searched by google. So just wondering whether we can access this in outlook or mozilla thunderbird when we are within the intranet.
So far it does not work with outlook also.
Do you get any errors from Outlook when you try open that feed?
i get this error in outlook.
"Outlook cannot process the RSS content from the link. The link may not point to a valid RSS source."
In Google it says
"Your search did not match any feeds."
If you point your browser that URL you use in Outlook, can you see XML ?
Do you have other pages in that application ?
You did ask does this need some changes on server side.
At least I did not do any, I just used Tylers guide with modifications that I did already post.
I followed the same procedure explained above and it produces proper feeds in the live bookmarks in firefox. Also it loads the new feeds whenever a new record is created. But when i tried to add the feeds to the outlook reader it gives an error which says : Outlook can not process the RSS content from https://host/pls/apex/f?p=122:42
The link may not point to a valid RSS source.
Apex version : Application Express 4.1.0.00.32
Outlook : 2007
Application is in an intranet connection.
Any suggestions ?
Is you page that shows RSS public?
BTW, do not replay old post. Nobody get notified that there is new replays.
Better create new post and add link to old one.
