Can you be little bit specific about the configuration ...
-- which server/release you are using.
-- Are you you using sun or jrockit.
If it is sun and if i remember correctly , if you install the 64 bit version and then just run the regular start script, it will start the SUN jvm in 32 bit mode which doesn't load the native IO lib. Try using '-d64' flag on 64 solaris platforms for Sun JVM only and see if it helps in loading native IO library.
Using jrockit is another option .
Regarding NPE it is hard to answer like this unless there are logs to see and correct configuration is provided. I suggest contacting Oracle support for this.
I am getting same exception while using WLSS-3.1.1 with Sun JDK(1.5.012) on Solaris 10.
I have specified "-d64" JVM parameter.
d64 should have nothing to do with exception.
Exception is happening because of some other reason.
Are you using standalone or replicated environment?
If it is standalone see if
takes care of problem
If not then I'd suggest opening a support case with relevant details so that it can be looked into.
