I'm not very knowledgeable on the IT side of the house but we have had lots of error messages and crashes along the way using Primavera P3 as well as P6. In the end we have learned to accept the software's design flaws as well as our local network's shortcomings and just plow ahead and work around them.
Good luck in your search.
I managed to solve the problem by deleting the corrupt layout. also stopped exporting layouts along with archived copies of projects.
problem boils down to a corrupt layout transfered along with project. deleted problem layout and all versions based on it.
i would recommend against transfering layouts with projects (checkmark) unless really necessary.
