I have a couple 8i databases and noticed these are not supported with 11g but with 10g Grid Control that I use now.
Does mean they won't work in 11g GC or just not supported ?
Oracle Enterprise Manager Grid Control Certification Checker [ID 412431.1]
OEM 10G GRID supports 18.104.22.168. databases. And per Oracle , 11G Grid will not support.
It mean that you can continue to use but in case of any Issue, you wont be able to take help from Oracle Support.
But I am sure you can monitor 8i database with 11G grid.
I would suggest you to use 10G agent for monitoring 8i database because with 11G agents you might face issues for 8i database.
This I think should depend on what you would like to use of the new features in 11.11 person found this helpful
You might need the 11.1 Agent to perform certain new features 11.1
Just give it a try using the 11.1 Agent, if it does not work you can always reinstall your 10.2.05 agent
I will be upgrading the 8i DB in the future.
The 10g Grid Control works fine with them and I did upgrade all the agents to 10R5
I will install the 11g GC and see how the 8i database work with 10R5 agents.
So what did you discover re: 8i database instances and Grid Control 11g?
We have pointed a 10.2.0.5 agent that is monitoring 22.214.171.124 targets at our Grid Control 11g. The agent and it's targets showed up just fine in Grid Control 11g. I will post more as we do further testing.
