    org.omg.CORBA.COMM_FAILURE: purge_calls on oracle apps server


      We are facing with the problem when running huge reports

      This is on AIX 6.1

      Any one faced with this issue and possible solution

          First of all, you have to apply the latest patch set i.e. & then final cumulative patch. But to fix this issue on temporary basis, you have to do some performance tuning to the oracle application server components. Some recommended changes to avoid getting this issue are as follows:

          1.Set "-Xms256M -Xmx1024M" for OC4J_BI_Forms, to some more memoryi.e.
          <java-option value="-client -Xms256M -Xmx1024M> in opmn.xml

          2. Edit OH/discoverer/util/pref.txt, take backup and set the following to some higher value.

          MaxVirtualDiskMem = 1024000000
          MaxVirtualHeapMem = 2024000000

          Please note the increased value for memory should be less than the existing memory i.e. available for Oracle application server.
