md5sum check error ONLY for startCD + EBS R12 Installation on Windows 2003

@ hussein - forum's father of ebs r12 installations :) (no pun intended)/ also all

my md5sum check was fine for stage area EXCEPT_ for startCD.

yes, yes, i ran that particular md5sum command with respective md5sum contents for r12 as suggested by oracle

checked

1. c:\cygwin\usr\bin + c:\cygwin\bin in path
1.1 cygwin 1.5 earlier version - has renamed gcc-3 to gcc and copied to cc.exe

2. C:\VisualStudio8\VC\bin also in path
21. visutal studio 2005 professional complete suite

observations:

1. no errors while unzipping all the parts of startCD
 Name                                                                                                       Part Number        Size (Bytes)
Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.1.1 Rapid Install Start Here (Part 1 of 4)      B53824-01 Part 1 of 4      29M
Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.1.1 Rapid Install Start Here (Part 2 of 4)      B53824-01 Part 2 of 4      97M
Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.1.1 Rapid Install Start Here (Part 3 of 4)      B53824-01 Part 3 of 4      393M
Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.1.1 Rapid Install Start Here (Part 4 of 4)      B53824-01 Part 4 of 4      81M
*2. downloaded the above files literally 5 times without any interrupts i.e. steady uninterrupted bandwidth @2mbps*

properties of startCD folder are as follows:
size: 1.25GB (1,3751,283,829 bytes)
size on disk: 1.27GB (1,370,624,000 bytes)
contains: 6,944 files, 1,184 folders
3. in startCD files, i could verify fully functioning files like pdfs, images, etc. which log of md5sum reports FAILED :(

autorun.inf: FAILED
component.label: OK
Disk1/doc/1211concepts.pdf: FAILED
Disk1/doc/1211install.pdf: FAILED
Disk1/doc/1211maintproc.pdf: FAILED
Disk1/doc/1211maintutil.pdf: FAILED
Disk1/doc/1211patchproc.pdf: FAILED
Disk1/doc/1211upg11i.pdf: FAILED
Disk1/html/runrw.html: FAILED
Disk1/html/runrw_files/colorschememapping.xml: FAILED
Disk1/html/runrw_files/filel.xistml: FAILED
but in reality, i see all_ these files mentioned as FAILED, present* their in respective folders

4. on cmd prompt i see this
C:\stage12\startCD>md5sum --check md5sum_startCD_12.1.1.10.txt > md5sum_result.t
xt
md5sum: Disk1/rapidwiz/etc/dbvfix.sh: No such file or directory
md5sum: Disk1/rapidwiz/etc/oraparam.ini.template_10123_hp_pa: No such file or di
rectory
md5sum: Disk1/rapidwiz/etc/oraparam.ini_10123_hp_pa: No such file or directory
md5sum: WARNING: 3 of 5746 listed files could not be read
md5sum: WARNING: 840 of 5743 computed checksums did NOT match
& these files, i can't see as i am downloaded the win32 stack

potential cause:

1. is it that as these startCD files are frequently updated, the corresponding checksum files haven't been updated accordingly?

2. or is it that since i changed the gcc-3.exe to gcc.exe and copied to cc.exe that these kinda failed errors displayed.

appreciate ALL your time and timely thoughts...

    Hi,
    1. is it that as these startCD files are frequently updated, the corresponding checksum files haven't been updated accordingly?
It could be. However, I believe the checksum files are updated regularly, especially when a new version of startCD is released or uploaded to the e-Delivery website.
    2. or is it that since i changed the gcc-3.exe to gcc.exe and copied to cc.exe that these kinda failed errors displayed.
I do not think it is about the gcc.exe as you were able to run md5sum for other CDs/DVDs with no issues. What I would suggest for now is to download the latest md5 checksum results. In “Section 4” of the md5sum document you should find the list of files you would need to download again.

If all have been verified, then you may try to run the installer and see if it works, or you may log a SR to confirm that those md5sum result files are up to date.

    Thanks,
    Hussein

Was the database created successfully? If yes, correct the entry in the hosts file and click on retry button. If there is no retry button, close Rapid Install window, and start the installation again using "-restart" option.

    Thanks,

    Hi,

Open a new DOS session, source the database env file "<CONTEXT_NAME>.cmd" under %ORACLE_HOME%, connect to SQL*Plus as sysdba, and issue "SQL> select status from v$instance;".

    Thanks,

    Hi,
i found the file you mention to source C:\oracle\VIS\db\tech_st\11.1.0\VIS_ebsr1232.cmd
This is the script you need to run before connecting to SQL*Plus. From the command prompt, run this file then issue:
    C:\sqlplus / as sysdba

    SQL> select status from v$instance;
    Thanks,
    Hussein

Not necessarily, run the select statement to verify whether the database is open or not.

For the ORA error you are getting, bounce the two services (the dabase and the listener) then try to connect to sqlplus again.
    127.0.0.1     ebsr1232.ashinc.local
Is this the entry you have recently added? You should use a different IP Address by setting up a loopback adapter, so have you done this?

i did not add recently , it was there right from beginning of installation

I wanted to follow only your steps installing on 2003 & i didn't see the configuring loopback adaptor steps in 2003 steps but saw them in xp steps though - sorry if i have missed it

can/should I configure loopback adaptor now?

can i still succeed continuing w/ installation going forward after adding the below to host file?

Yes, you can as the IP Address is not hardcoded in any of the files.

    Thanks,
