Any ideas what could cause the following error when starting up WebLogic 10.3.0 on JRockit 27.6.0, 27.6.4, and 27.6.6 but not on 28.0.0?

I'm installing new hardware (i.e. new to me, not new as in latest and greatest) and haven't come across this in the past. Thanks for any suggestions. This has had me baffled all day.
I've discovered the problem does not occur if I use a heap size less than 2094 MB for my min and max heap in JRockit 27.6.
In JRockit 28.0 it seems to work fine with a larger 2800 MB heap.
(Java 6, 32 bit JVM on 64 bit OS).
I've been able to reproduce it on other hardware so maybe this is just an issue with 2008 Server R2. I'll try a support ticket since this doesn't seem to be something obvious that people here have come across before...
