        Hi,

I'm trying to download the files but on all but the virtualbox i get an 404-error. Is the server overloaded? Any news on when it will be possible to download again?
(I'll attend the developer day tomorrow...)

        Kind regards, Eric van Leeuwen

You should be able to download. I have just checked the site and it's fine. If there is an issue it's often resolved within the hour, so worth waiting and trying again.

Probably I should be able to download too, but I can't. Same problem, 404 except for the virtual box.
Been trying for some time & It's getting late.

There appears to be a general site problem for all downloads. I believe the engineers are working on it.

I'm still getting 404 errors - has anyone else managed to download the files today?

                Thanks,

The latest appliance (1st July 2010) available from http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/virtualbox/appliances/index.html seems to contain incorrect .OVF and .MF files

The appliance files were downloaded and refused to import into VirtualBox because the SHA1 hashes in "Oracle Developer Days".mf did not match the calculated values (Windows 7 64 Bit using digestIT 2004 to generate the hashes). Ensuring that the files were not compressed on disk did not affect the calculated hashes.

The file sizes of the text files in the web page also did not match the sizes of the text files on the file system.

The file sizes in the web page also did not match the sizes of the files in "Oracle Developer Days".ovf

                    Web Page
                    OTN_DD_ROOT.VMDK: 1261391872 bytes
                    OTN_DD_ORACLE.vmdk: (2,097,152,000 bytes + 840,474,624 bytes) = 2937626624 bytes

                    _"Oracle Developer Days".ovf_
                    OTN_DD_ROOT.VMDK: 1258071040
                    OTN_DD_ORACLE.vmdk: 2758925824

                    Actual Values
                    OTN_DD_ROOT.vmdk: ovf:size="1261391872"
                    OTN_DD_ORACLE.vmdk: ovf:size="2937626624"

The reported value of the MD5 hash for OTN_DD_ROOT.vmdk in the latest web page DID match the calculated value; the SHA1 hash in "Oracle Developer Days".mf did NOT match the calculated value.

                    Original Values "Oracle Developer Days".mf
                    SHA1 (Oracle Developer Days.ovf)= abff5a0a1db7241759461f6e0d48428adc24bc61
                    SHA1 (OTN_DD_ROOT.vmdk)= f0f12a056da9acfa158ace143a506c3d6e5b274e
                    SHA1 (OTN_DD_ORACLE.vmdk)= 0ce4d99572f95e8ed10cd15e6dd6a464b8e2b2e5

                    Calculated Values
                    SHA1 (Oracle Developer Days.ovf)= 34815dc6fec76e37951f060778de4a9faa664e8
                    SHA1 (OTN_DD_ROOT.vmdk)= a5b014aeffa46995f86f8eeb7050999621518e82
                    SHA1 (OTN_DD_ORACLE.vmdk)= 0d4170870d2cd4837550c9daa006c0a7143cc175

Guessing that the binary files were correct, I hacked "Oracle Developer Days".ovf to correct the file sizes, then altered "Oracle Developer Days".mf to contain the calculated SHA1 values.

The hacked appliance imports into VirtualBox (3.2.6) and runs.

                      Your tip is very helpful.

I still havent been able to import the appliance. While importing OTN_DD_ORACLE.vmdk the process terminates with an error "could not create clone hard disk". Any idea what could be going wrong??

Host operating system Windows 7 (64Bit)

The SHA-1 hash calculated for OTN_DD_ORACLE.vmdk is as follows:-

                      SHA1 (OTN_DD_ORACLE.vmdk)= c386579ee2436d0985e5d20873d026b2053b9e63

The "applicance import settings" shows Hard Disk Control (IDE) PIIX4, where as I am using SATA Disk. Do I have to change setting in the ovf file?

I suggest downloading combine.bat and the binary files again then concatenating them into OTN_DD_ORACLE.vmdk

                        MD5 hashes
                        06012abd8b3ba7620a271825aa85d0d9 OTN_DD_ORACLE.vmdk.001
                        406491621b62e7fc419bad398f463d7f OTN_DD_ORACLE.vmdk.002

                        [
The original combine.bat used wildcards so that some people got the contents of .002 before .001 in the concatenated file.
                        ]

                        I think that I used "copy /B OTN_DD_ORACLE.vmdk.001 + OTN_DD_ORACLE.vmdk.002 OTN_DD_ORACLE.vmdk" explicitly, rather than using combine.bat

I also ensured that the files were not compressed (Right Click on the file, Properties, Advanced... then ensure that these options are unticked:-
"Allow this file to have contents indexed in addition to file properties"
"Compress contents to save disk space"
                        "Encrypt contents to secure data"

                        [
It may be nothing but I have my virtualbox virtual machine directory outside my home directory (on a different file system) and the options above are not even available in the properties dialogue.
                        ]

Other people have had problems with VirtualBox 3.2.6 (only with Windows hosts though). It's possible that it is a Virtualbox problem rather than an appliance problem.

still i am facing the same prob.any solution for it.

Failed to import appliance D:\Linux_VM\Oracle Developer Days.ovf.
The SHA1 digest of 'Oracle Developer Days.ovf' does not match the one in 'Oracle Developer Days.mf'.

Please provide the solution to get and modify the SHA1 values

I have successfully downloaded all three .vmdk files and the MD5's match and I've combined the two parts. But even after trying ow005960's fix, I still get-- The SHA1 digest of 'Oracle Developer Days.ovf' does not match the one in 'Oracle Developer Days.mf'.

Would someone at Oracle OTN please provide updated .mf and .ovf files. PLEASE.

OK, I finally got the import to work. After modifying the sizes in the ovf file, I calculated a different SHA1 than what ow005960 posted. Also, the mf file needs to be exactly 209 bytes (unix format); I could not get the end-of-file right with vi, but the TextEdit.app did the job nicely.

                                Calculated Values
                                SHA1 (Oracle Developer Days.ovf)= bf19161cdfd874f3dedf29d3cf84fe84f3f4a94e
                                SHA1 (OTN_DD_ROOT.vmdk)= a5b014aeffa46995f86f8eeb7050999621518e82
                                SHA1 (OTN_DD_ORACLE.vmdk)= 0d4170870d2cd4837550c9daa006c0a7143cc175

ow005960, many thanks for posting enough details on the problems with the hosted files.

I had faced the same problems mentioned above before, but now it is ok.

step 1 , check the file size ,SHA1 and MD5。 IN MY WIN7 GATEWAY 5209(AMD64,2G RAM ,320G HDD) LAPTOP,the three file
                                  Oracle Developer Days.mf (209 bytes, md5sum: ac4dc22441de1711b5d6c71713d427a6)
                                  Oracle Developer Days.ovf (93,494 bytes, md5sum: 84ccbd711972e3907fd85bd665aae762)
                                  OTN_DD_ROOT.vmdk (1,261,391,872 bytes, md5sum: e332cb5c23e3d70ffc09c8386aa9fca5)
had some problems. for example ,the first 2 files had different sizes (212 and 93496 respectively, no need to say MD5SUM), and the third file had different SHA1checksum. (THOUGH THE SIZE AND THE MD5 WAS RIGHT!)。I downloaded many time and the problems still exist, so I had to fix the .mf file。After that ,I could import the VM successfully.

step 2 ,AFTER I started the VIRTUAL MACHINE , I encountered the below error:

Memory for crash kernel (0x0 to 0x0) notwithin permissible range
WARNING calibrate_APIC_clock: the APIC timer calibration may be wrong.

                                  and the system hanged.

I changed the virtual machine's setting. ONE is changing the VM'S RAM (FROM 900M DOWN TO 512M.I GUESS IT WAS VERY IMPORTANT),ANOTHER IS USING APIC. After that ,I successed .

                                  Hope it is helpful.

when does the .MF file get created?

I deleted it, after verifying it was wrong and the import went smoothly. i didn't restart VirtualBox, I just re-opened the ovf and all went fine.

the md5 on OTN is wrong, at least for me anyway, and I downloaded multiple times.

                                    MD5 - 45007ccf025fba1c3597161796200781

there is no .mf in the directory the virtualbox was in anymore.. is it just a transient file, or did my deletion of it, get around the validation process altogether?
