I am having problems with 11gR2 dbca on 32 bit Ubuntu 10.04
details here: New Install: dbca problem on ubuntu 10.04
Software Only install went fine.
But, dbca gives me this:
# An unexpected error has been detected by HotSpot Virtual Machine:
# SIGSEGV (0xb) at pc=0xb785a6f3, pid=5953, tid=3077314240
# Java VM: Java HotSpot(TM) Server VM (1.5.0_17-b02 mixed mode)
# Problematic frame:
# C [ld-linux.so.2+0xd6f3]
while Oracle is not supported on Ubuntu, I had this error on OEL in OVM as well.
This looks like you are using a pretty knew AMD processor in your computer.
This issue happens with a 32-bit operating system and 32-bit Java software on a new 64-bit AMD processor.
Hope you have a mysupport access. The patch you need is: 8670579
If you have not, only other workaround would be to install 64-bit Linux and use 64-bit Oracle 11gR2.
Even though I would recommend OEL (since Ubuntu is not supported).
To download OEL:
