Quick question but has anyone been able to install OBIEE 11g in Windows 7 64bit?
I got the 64-bit Windows installer from (http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/bi-enterprise-edition/downloads/bus-intelligence-11g-165436.html). But every time I double click on the setup.exe, the DOS window pops up for about half a second and then disappears and nothing happens. I tried the 32-bit install but that quickly realizes that my OS is 64-bit and it gives up right away too.
Based on the certification matrix (http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/bi-enterprise-edition/bi-11gr1certmatrix-166168.html), it looks like Windows 7 32bit is supported but not 64bit.
In the past, there's always been some kind of work around or command line flag we could throw in to get it to install anyway. Anyone know a work around?
I am running Windows 7 Professional 64bits and the installer works fine on my PC although I have not tried installing OBIEE as I don't want to "contaminate" my PC with it so I am using a Windows 32bits VM. I suggest you upgrade your Java JDK/JRE to the latest version and also make use UAC is turned on and no AV software is running.
Thanks for you input Terribeach. I'm actually on Windows 7 Ultimate Edition. I wonder if there's a functional difference between the two versions and how they interact with the install file.
Has anyone successfully installed OBIEE 11g on Windows 7 64bit Ultimate edition?
Since you are running Windows 7 Ultimate edition you get free access to Windows 7 XP Mode (http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtual-pc/default.aspx). It's no different to any of the other VM solutions out there but I guess it's nice to see it integrated on the OS like that. May be you can give that a try?
