I haven't much looked into it but I think it was because of some Diamond problem.

Did you understand what the problem is?
In C++ the creators must have made a design decision on how to avoid that problem. The Java creators must have made the decision to not even bother and disallow multiple inheritance. If you truly want to know the exact reasons why, track down the people responsible and ask them not us.
