At the moment my program, stores strings in a .txt file like this

word1
word2
word3
word4
etc....

the txt file becomes very big very quickly, is there another way to store my strings which will use less memory.

Thanks

    Why are you storing them?
    What do the Strings represent?
What are you trying to accomplish?

Don't show me that! That 'sound of music' has been haunting me for all my life! I had to see that movie three times: with my grandma, my mother and an aunt! It takes about a month to sit through that entire movie. I once ran away from it but was caught and dragged back to my chair; I hate that movie and every image of it!

    kind regards,

    Jos ;-)

Three times? Phah, that's nothing! I had to endure it at least ten times: my mother loved that movie when I was a child...
Dammit, now I have this number:

Doe, a deer, a female deer
Ray, a drop of golden sun
Me, a name I call myself...

    in my head!

Shut up will you or I have to kill you in the most painful and perverted way and feed your remnants to scabby cats! Go away! Go from me! Leave me alone!

Yes, perhaps that is that's the best solution...

The end result is a wordlist for password recovery, another program will be able to access this wordlist and check each string in the wordlist for matches.

Each string represents 10 alphanumeric characters ie "AAAAAAAAAA"

    Thanks

Zip up the files? Seriously, "less memory" isn't really your problem here. Hard drive space is very cheap, why are you worrying about the size of the files?
