Forte 3.5 (3.0.N.1) install on Windows7 64-bit OS

I tried to install the Forte 3.5 developer version on a Windows7 64-bit machine. It indicated this was an unsupported OS. Has anyone installed this on a 64-bit Windows7 machine?

    Is the Forte 3.5 developer version you cite the Forte developer
    software sold by the company Forte that was purchased
    by Sun Microsystems, Inc.? If so, it predates Windows 7 by
    more than a decade.

    Yes it is. I know it is quite old; but, many of the user community have found ways for it to continue to work with the newer releases of software. I was just wondering if someone had.

    I understand. I have a very nice computer algebra program that works with
    Windows 98, ME 2000 and XP, but not with Vista. The company that
    published it no longer supports it. I am hoping it will run under Windows 7
    using the XP compatibility mode.

    I use Forte 3.5.1 Development System on Win 7 64 Bit.

    Problem of setup you may avoid if you install it on 32 Bit System; copying it on  Win 7 System and setting the environment Variables.

    With srvcinst.exe you are able to install the Environment Manager and Repository Server if necessary.

    With Control Panel Application you are able to modify/create the necessary registry entries.

    The "Links" you may copy from 32 Bit System and modify the Path Settings in Properties.

    Using Oracle DB 11.2.x 64 Bit you have to COPY the 32 Bit instant client (DLL's) in %FORTE_ROOT%\install\bin without setting Path Variable.

    The main thing you should know, is that Forté using NOT the "system32 hell". All it needs for running is in %FORTE_ROOT% and it's subdirectories.

    Hope that helps.
