I have read 20 forums regarding this, and learned nothing.
Getting java.comm working on my system was easy, because I am a genius and 100 times smarter than everyone here.
But, even in my infinite wisdom, I can't see how I am going to distribute the comm.jar with my application without gleaning the location of the java runtime engine on the target system and implanting the properties file.
I want to drag-and-drop the jar into my jar, and distribute it, and it will work.
Instead, I have to waste my whole life scratching through forums and getting nowhere.
I want to smash something.
I want to take the stupid comms properties file and shove it up someones backside.
How do I install the javax.comm package properly on my PC? I have downloaded the comm.jar file but what else do I need? Where can I find the comm.properties file?
My problem is:
when I do:
Enumeration portList = CommPortIdentifier.getPortIdentifiers();
I get nothing, no ports are found.
gives me null...
Please help me!
where can I find the comm.jar package?
I am starting with serial port communication and I can't make it with this one.
Try to import it somewhere in C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0... and so...
I can't find where exactly are the standard java.util / java.IO and similar packages. But it must be around there.
Tell me if you find them :)
All the best,
We've been using a lot of time on getting javax.comm to work and found that it was the COM driver which was causing the problems on Windows 7.
If the driver is also your problem and you're using Windows 7 or possibly Vista then here's a solution :)
Hope you get it to work!
