    PSU Vs CPU

    azodpe
We recently upgraded to 11.2.0.1 and had hit one bug, for which ORacle is asking us to apply patch 9729268.
While applying this patch I got one more pre-req error saying patch '9352237 ' as a pre-req is not applied in our system
When I checked the readme for patch 9352237, its a PSU realeased in April 2010.
I believer lates PSU and CPU are also released in this month.
I am little confused on whether to apply a PSU or CPU now.

      Any help please?

Once you apply a PSU, you will continue to need to apply PSUs - you cannot apply CPUs.

See Section 8 of MOS Doc 854428.1 (Patch Set Updates for Oracle Products)

Yes, I read that document, and not sure which way to go now.
I believe they both contain same patches.
How do I know, If we are on CPU OR PSU path?
Which way is better CPU or PSU?

Thanks for the quick response as alwasys !!!

PSUs contain CPUs plus other bug fixes. Which path your choose (CPUs only or PSUs only) depends on your requirements and needs. Systems that store sensitive information and/or are exposed to the internet (or are more susceptible to attack) will need to go the CPU route (where patches are released on a quarterly basis).

Currently there is no release schedule for PSUs, so choosing this path would be more appropriate for highly secure databases, or for databases that do not contain sensitive information.
