Issue with Sun Java System Application server

    843844
One of the project has a problem with Sun Java System Application server and Windows Server 2003 SP1.

Here are some details about the problem the project is facing. The project is a configurable helpdesk project developed in Java and CORBA. The list of software used/installed is as follows.

      Windows 2003 Server - SP1
Sun Java Application Server Platform Edition 8.1 2005Q1
Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Driver for JDBC, Version 2.2.0040
Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Enterprise Edition SP3a
      Jrockit (JVM 1.4.2_05)
      Java Mail 1.3
      Crystal Reports 10 Embedded Edition
      Universal Knowledge Suite 2.4

The hardware used is Dell ACPI Multiprocessor PC with processor Xeon 3.6 GHz.

The product is running fine at client site on Windows server 2000 and 2003. However, some time back the client installed Service pack1 on top of Windows Server 2003. After this up gradation, the Sun Java Application server is crashing. Actually the process (appserv.exe) disappears from the task manager after some time (some days) and the application becomes non-responsive.

Our analysis so far suggests that the number of TCP/IP connection for appserv.exe when checked with NetStat is increasing with time and ( may be as a result )the memory used by AppServ.exe is also keep increasing.

First of all, is there a reason why you are using jRockit?

Since the issue appeared after upgrading the windows, the issue would potentially be in the interaction between JVM and OS.

Also, there were some issues related to memory leak that were fixed in AS 8.2.

May be you should try with a Sun JVM and AS 8.2.
