Hi,

Is anyone aware of the existence of any mobile device like PDA or mobile phone etc that supports the CDC. Any specific products in mind ?
I want it to support CDC so that I can use the RMI OP package......

Thank you!

Only SavaJe (no longer available) supports cdc according to sun.

I cannot find what j2me version is on my 8525/Hermes. It supports MIDP2.0 but I'm not sure whether cdc or cldc...me thinks cldc even though this is a pda.

you mean that becides the five pdas-cell phones (from the link above) all the other pdas do not support cdc???? I thought that cdc was designed (among others) mostly for pdas...

cldc and midp do not provide a good gui api like swing...

I have a pda (hp with windows mobile) that can support preety heavy graphics from what I ve seen from microsoft apps, but are you telling me that with java applications I have to stick to the louzy user interfaces you can make with midp???

my bad...I was checking CDC 1.1 only.

Ok...so there's 4? addnl phones supporting CDC 1.0....basically none do.

The conspiracist? in me says carriers ARE NOT READY for full cdc on their networks.

I think you may be (as I was) confused on how MIDP relates to CDC and CLDC. I believe phone being MIDP doesn't necessairly mean it is either CDC or CLDC.

MIDP merely refers to phone having certain profiles/JSRs available...most of which are DISABLED BY CARRIERS!!! (like Sprint and bluetooth...regardless of cert you've signed app with).

    Hi;
i think It is really disappointing that although we use Win Mobile and we have enough memory in PDA's, we cannot use the the features of CDC.
We have to use 3rd party programmes and we need to spend much time to run the Java application in PDA.
Therefore, i think "write once, run ewerywhere" fails in this case.

    Hello,

That is true that CDC devices list is complex to find on the net.
Maybe the best is to search device list using JSR.
